Short version. The addresses and titles of your tabs never leave your browser. There is no Tabfort account. We collect only an anonymous installation ID with basic usage counts, and — if you buy a license — the details needed to process your payment.

1. Who we are

Tabfort is made by Roman Denisov, an individual entrepreneur (empresário em nome individual) registered in Portugal, NIF 312773005, R. Dr. José Vilaça 108, 4705-094 Braga, Portugal (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the data described here. Contact: [email protected].

2. Data that stays on your computer

To save and restore your sessions, the Tabfort extension reads your open windows, tabs and tab groups: page titles, addresses, group names and colours, and pinned state. This is why Chrome shows the warning “Read your browsing history”.

All of this is stored only in your browser's local storage on your computer. It is never sent to us or to any third party. We cannot see it. If you uninstall the extension, Chrome deletes this data — export it first if you want to keep it.

Extension permissions and why they are needed:

tabs — to see and save your open tabs and windows;
tabGroups — to save and restore tab groups;
storage, unlimitedStorage — to keep your sessions locally, without a size limit;
alarms — to take a snapshot every 5 minutes.

Tabfort does not request access to the content of the websites you visit.

3. Anonymous usage statistics

Once a day, the extension sends us a small anonymous record so we can see whether Tabfort is useful and working:

a random installation ID created when you install Tabfort (not linked to your name, email or Google account);
the extension version, the date of first use, and whether Tabfort was opened that day;
which upgrade offers were shown and whether they were clicked;
whether a license is active;
the country the request came from, as reported by our hosting provider (the IP address itself is not stored).

This record never contains tab addresses, titles, or anything you saved. You can turn it off in Tabfort's settings. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the product (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. If you buy a license

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We receive your email address, name, country, the product bought, the amount and the date, and we generate a license key linked to your email. We use this to deliver and support your license, handle refunds, and meet accounting and tax obligations. Legal basis: performance of a contract and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR). Purchase records are kept for as long as Portuguese tax law requires; the license key is kept while the license is valid.

Your license key is checked inside the extension. Checking it does not send your tab data anywhere.

5. Emails you send us and notification lists

If you email support, we use your message and address only to answer you. If you join the list to be notified when Google Drive backup is released, we store your email only for that one notification and delete the list afterwards. You can ask us to delete your address at any time.

6. The uninstall page

When you uninstall Tabfort, Chrome opens a short page asking why. Answering is optional and anonymous: we store your answer and the extension version, not your identity.

7. This website

tabfort.com is hosted by Cloudflare. To understand how visitors use the site, we use PostHog analytics, hosted in the EU. It records which pages are viewed, clicks on the site, the referring page, browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from the IP address. It is configured without cookies and without storing anything in your browser, and session recording is off. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. The website sets no cookies. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

8. Service providers

Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting, email forwarding, storage of anonymous statistics and license records;
PostHog, Inc. — website analytics (EU hosting);
Stripe — payment processing;
Google — distribution of the extension through the Chrome Web Store.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone except the providers above.

9. Chrome Web Store user data policy

The use of information received by the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the extension's features described above, is not transferred to third parties except as described here, and is never used for advertising or to determine creditworthiness.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to restrict processing. Write to [email protected]; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (cnpd.pt), or to the authority in your country.

11. Children

Tabfort is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

12. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If a change affects what data leaves your computer, we will tell you in the extension before it takes effect.
